Fall into Our Shoe Showcase!

Fall into Our Shoe Showcase!

At H&H, we take our shoe collection seriously. We don’t let just any brand, silhouette, material or footbed into the fold! As longtime vendors of imported European lovelies like Fly London and east coast mainstays like Miz Mooz, we’ve now turned our eye southward to welcome Fortress of Inca to the family.

What is Fortress of Inca? Well, besides recalling the powerhouse Peruvian empire of yesteryear, this artisan brand has one goal in mind: sustainability. That means you’re always getting eco-friendly, ethical and classically handcrafted shoes, and offsetting carbon emissions in the process.

Oh, and did we mention you’re supporting a Peruvian maker, her craft and the dwindling art of traditional, handicraft shoemaking?

So go ahead and get down with their (basically bespoke) craftsperson-ship. We’re featuring the pebbled Riri bootie above and below, but you can shop our other Fortress of Inca finds here and here too. Fair trade and handmade—was there ever a prettier pairing? Here’s that Riri we promised:

Riri is a pebbled leather bootie with a low walking heel. Her light leather brings contrast to your darker denim or cool-hued trousers—we paired it with cargos and a pullover for a riot of textures and prints.

If we’re talking origin stories on the blog, it’s probably worth mentioning that Sorel took its first steps in Portland, Oregon, and has been keeping things weird (not to mention “pushing the boundaries of function-first fashion”) since the early 1960s.

You can see a bit of each shoe’s locale echoed in its gait; the Kinetic Caribou Platform Sneaker is no different.

A wavy lug-like sole and just a hint of a platform make these sneaker booties both on-trend and practical. Waterproof leather means we’re spilling the tea: “Bring it on, winter.” Pair these with moody floral midi dresses or cuffed black jeans.

Miz Mooz was born in New York. Are you even surprised, what with their proliferation of on-trend pieces, season after season, these python print booties included? We didn’t think so. You know how they say “leopard is a neutral,” right? Well, at H&H we’re pretty sure python print is the new neutral mainstay for fall 2019.

Could there be a sleeker take on the python print trend? With a pointed toe to elongate your leg and a 2" heel for everyday lift, you'll gladly eschew the more traditional cheetah and veer a little more—ahem, reptilian, when it comes to your fall booties.

Well, we’ve chatted a bit about “place” on our annual fall footwear showcase today: how it can inform style, how style choices help us to interact with our surroundings—people included! And finally, just how special it is that we’ve lovingly curated a local selection of fall footwear suited to you, our Mountain West tribe, both here in our Salt Lake Valley headquarters and beyond. It really is something, dear readers and boot lovers. It really is.

Signing off for now.

Love,
H&H
